Philippe Lichtenstein is one of Israel’s most experienced and best winemakers, with a proven record of making high quality wines.
Philippe was born in France and he studied wine at Montpelier University. He worked in the South of France and in Corsica and when he made Aliyah, he was soon snapped up as winemaker of Zichron Ya’acov Winery, belonging to Israel’s largest winery. There he gained a reputation for having an excellent palate and an excellent winemaking touch.
Inevitably, he then became Chief Winemaker of Zichron Ya’acov Winery, a position he held for many years. When he was promoted to also becoming Winery Manager, he was responsible for integrating the new boutique winery.
When the Shor family were looking for a proven internationally trained winemaker, they were delighted to meet Philippe. He was appointed winemaker of the Shor family winery and he began planning the launch of the prestige Hayotzer Winery. For this new project, he has overseen the planting of new vineyards, purchase of new equipment and the Hayotzer wines have already won awards and received credit from connoisseurs and wine lovers alike.
Philippe Lichtenstein is a modest artist who is both innovative and creative. He combines the best of France & Israel, has contributed greatly to the quality wine revolution in Israel and continues to advance Israeli wine through the wines of Hayotzer Winery.
